Suzie's Story

With so many sad stories in rescue, it is hard to find the ones that stand out. Sadly, Suzy is one of those stand out stories.

Suzy is a beautiful 3-4 year old, 62 lb., chonky, low-riding pittie. She found herself stuck in an outdoor pound, heartworm positive, feeling very timid, and running out of options.

Suzy was adopted for a few short months, and then returned to the pound when her adopter experienced a serious medical crisis. All told - Suzy has spent 17 months of her life in an outdoor pound.

Now that she is in rescue and relearning how to live the life of an indoor couch potato, Suzy is a dream. Suzie is dog friendly, cat solid, and good with kids. Suzy is housebroken and does fine in her kennel - though she prefers soft blankets to beds when it comes to her kennel bedding. If the word "mosey" was a dog, it would be Suzy Q. She does everything at one speed - slow-motion. She is not in a hurry and takes her time luxuriating in the sun and plodding through her yard. No long walks for this girl, she is a fridge to couch kind of energy.

Suzy is initially quite shy and takes time to warm up. Who can blame her? She has not known stability or consistency for more than a few months in her life. Suzy prefers small rooms - like the laundry room and hallway - to large living rooms and dining rooms. She is still gaining the confidence to exist contentedly in those spaces.

Suzy is heartworm positive and has begun undergoing treatment while in rescue. She will need to be on crate rest during this process; however, she is a pretty low-energy girl and keeping her entertained in her crate is easy.

Suzy is a real Cinderella story. She deserves the best life with a family who is willing to give her the patience, devotion, and time that she needs to decompress and fully show her charming personality.

If you think you have what it takes to provide this princess the fairytale ending she deserves, put in an application today to get the process started.

Suzy has waited so long already, don't make her wait any longer.
