Sutherland's Story

Sutherland is about 7 (guess) years old and weighs 85 pounds. Sutherland was a cruelty confiscation case through animal control after being abandoned at a home for several days with no food or water. While she was indoors, there was another dog that was left outdoors in the same situation.

The conditions that Sutherland was found in are confusing due to the evident love and training she had early on in her life. Sutherland knows sit, down and shake. She is house trained, crate trained and she knows the words "do you want to go bye-bye?"

At some point, Sutherland spent enough time outdoors that she suffered fly bite wounds to her ears that have since healed, however, it's obvious that she had previous ear issues indicative of ear infections and an evident hematoma at one point on her right ear from shaking her head due to the infection, that had erupted, leaving her right ear permanently disfigured.

Sutherland was at risk of euthanasia and being a shelter favorite, they reached out to rescue to see if we had room. The loss of this dog's life would have been nothing less than tragic.

Sutherland resides with dogs of various breeds, sizes and ages and is good with any home that is cat free.

Sutherland is an extremely friendly and gentle large dog who could benefit from a little diet and exercise. She is friendly, obedient and easygoing. She loves belly rubs, holding hands and making new friends, young and old. Sutherland absolutely lives for your attention. She will sit in front of you and simply just gaze into your eyes with a deep love for you.

There are not enough good things that can be said about this dog. Too many good dogs lose their lives in shelters, Sutherland was almost a statistic. It is our duty to make sure that she finds a home that is going to love, provide for and protect her for the rest of her life.

As with any new pet that you bring home, we expect our potential adopters to understand that there is a decompression and adjustment period.

If you're looking for the love of your life, apply for Sutherland today!
