Susie's Story

Meet Susie, a beautiful 2-year-old Great Dane with a big heart, a goofy personality, and a whole lot of love to give.

Susie has settled into her foster home wonderfully and her foster family gets to enjoy the sweet, silly girl that she is. Susie is potty trained, crate trained, good with other dogs, and loves kids. She's a big goofball who loves to jump and run around the yard and absolutely LOVES walks (although she can't walk in a straight line). She does have anxiety and needs a family who is willing to be patient with her as she opens up to her new environment. She is more uncomfortable around men but does extremely well with her foster dad and often snuggles next to him in bed. After spending time living in a vehicle, Susie has discovered that couches and beds are pretty fantastic and she plans to make up for lost time!

Susie loves being near her people and is happiest when she can soak up plenty of love and affection. She'll thrive with a patient family willing to give her the reassurance and time she needs to settle in and build trust. She is an easy girl to love. She hasn't been destructive in her foster home, enjoys settling down with a good bone, and has a nice balance of playful goofiness and laid-back companionship.

Susie has already been through a lot of change in her young life. What she needs now is something wonderfully ordinary: a family of her own, a comfortable couch, plenty of affection, and the security of knowing she's finally home for good.

Susie's life was turned upside down through no fault of her own when her family lost stable housing and was forced to live in their vehicle. Faced with an incredibly difficult situation, her owner made the heartbreaking decision to surrender Susie and her canine siblings to a shelter in hopes of giving them the chance at a more secure future. The shelter was a scary and overwhelming place for this sensitive girl. Susie watched as her siblings found rescue while she remained behind, frightened and unsure of everything happening around her. We knew this gentle giant needed a soft place to land, so Stop the Suffering stepped in to give her the fresh start she deserved.

Adoption fee is $375.00 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, fecal/deworming, vaccines and prevention up to date. Ohio residents only.

STS is a foster-based and volunteer-run rescue. We do not have a physical location or set hours for you to meet dogs, and it does take time to answer each inquiry. All dogs are in foster homes and once an application is approved and a home visit is completed you will be able to schedule meet and greets with available dogs. We encourage interested individuals to get approved prior to searching as it helps expedite the process. A Petfinder inquiry is not a substitute for an application.
