Sushi's Story

Sushi had been at the shelter since September 7th and was slated for euthanasia until we found her a temporary foster home. She is a super adorable two-year-old Australian cattle dog mix with one blue eye and one hazel eye,

Sushi walks easily on a leash and is well-mannered. She is extremely friendly and affectionate. She loves to give kisses and is amazing with children.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj3PpyapeUx/

Pet ID: A1168265

Companion Animal Protection Services (CAPS), a national nonprofit based in Thousand Oaks, CA., is partnering with Kern County Animal Services to find homes for high risk dogs at Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield, CA. The shelter has around 300 dogs and puppies in two metal warehouses with no outdoor runs. Dogs over five-months-old are at high risk for euthanasia because of lack of space and too many abandoned dogs in the community.

Please contact CAPS if you are interested in adopting, rescuing or fostering, and we will make sure the shelter contacts you. They do not answer phones or respond often to voice messages due to under-staffing. Foster homes must be in Kern County.

805-492-CAPS (2277)
caps@caps-web.org

CAPS can arrange transportation if you are on the West Coast and help you find transportation if you are in a state outside of this area.
