Sushi's Story

Sushi didn’t come from much.
She spent the beginning of her life on a chain in a backyard, that was her whole world. When she unexpectedly had puppies, she and her babies were surrendered. And that’s how she finally got her shot at something different.

Sushi is about 3 years old and 25 pounds and currently underweight, so we’re working on helping her fill out and feel her best. She’s a naturally shy, spooky little thing for the first few days in a new environment, the kind of dog who has clearly learned to move carefully through the world.
What she is discovering, though, is that inside life is pretty wonderful.

Soft beds? Big fan.
Quiet rooms? Yes please.
Laps? Her personal favorite.

Now that she doesn’t have puppies to tend to, Sushi likes to quietly hang out near her people. She doesn’t demand attention, she just wants to exist near you. When she trusts you, you can see her whole body soften.
She would do best in a patient home that understands she may need a a dew days come out of her shell. She does well around other dogs, in fact she loves to wrestle and snugglenwith her canine foster siblings and would likely enjoy a confident canine friend to help show her the ropes. Sushi also loves the resident human kiddos, she follows them from room to room, just to be close, as they play and go about their day. She has not been cat tested but due to her gentle nature, we think she may do well with cats too.

Sushi has done her time surviving. Now she’s ready to just be someone’s dog, someone’s quiet shadow, someone’s couch buddy, someone’s little 25 pound reminder that second chances matter.

Sushi is spayed, current on rabies, bordatella, and DAPP vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on flea and tick preventative.
If you’re looking for a gentle dog who just needs a safe place to land, Sushi might be your girl.
