Susan's Story

Susan is a 4½-year-old Great Pyrenees who made her journey to West Suburban Humane Society from Arkansas after being found wandering as a stray. Without prior preventatives, she was unfortunately diagnosed with heartworm and a tick-borne illness. Thanks to treatment and lots of loving care, Susan has fully recovered and is now healthy, healed, and ready for her forever home!

Susan is truly a gentle ball of fluff who loves everyone she meets. She gets along well with other dogs and would especially benefit from a confident canine companion to help her continue building confidence. She's still learning what indoor life is all about, but she's incredibly smart and catching on quickly.

Her foster shares:
"Hi! I'm Susan, aka Susie. I'm a gentle ball of fluff who loves everyone. My foster parents have been very patient with me as I navigate how to be the best girl I can be. I'm super affectionate but also need a job to keep me busy. Someone experienced with Great Pyrenees would be preferred. A spacious home with a good, fenced yard would be perfect. It would be in my best interest to have a dog friend to help build my confidence. If you're looking for an adventure buddy, I'm your girl!"

As a typical Pyrenees, Susan enjoys having space and purpose. A securely fenced yard is important for her safety, especially since she's clever enough to open certain door handles! She can be a bit anxious at times, so a patient, breed-savvy home will help her continue to thrive.

Susan has overcome so much and is ready for a life filled with stability, love, and maybe a little adventure. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a big fluffy heart, Susan may be the perfect addition to your family.
