Sunny's Story

Sunny 🐾<br/><br/>Meet Sunny, an adorable two-year-old Maltese mix boy from Texas who is just discovering what it means to be safe and loved! He's incredibly affectionate, gentle, and loving, and once he feels comfortable with you, he'll want to be right by your side — he loves cuddling, sitting, and napping in your lap.<br/><br/>Sunny sleeps wonderfully in his crate overnight, going 6–8 hours without any fussing and greeting his people each morning with lots of kisses before heading straight to the door for his potty break. He's also comfortable being crated or in a playpen during the day when needed. He's potty trained, with just a few early accidents while he settled into a new environment — since then, he's done great.<br/><br/>He loves playtime, especially chasing a bouncy ball, and gets along wonderfully with his foster's resident dog, playing like puppies together. With unfamiliar dogs, he does best with slow, calm, gentle introductions. He's done well with older kids (7+), though he hasn't yet been around younger children or cats.<br/><br/>Sunny is still adjusting to the sounds and energy of city life, and would do best with a patient adopter who can give him time to decompress and build confidence. With consistent, positive reinforcement training and a calm, predictable environment, he's sure to thrive — a quieter home, possibly with a secure yard for him to relax and explore, could be especially wonderful for him.<br/><br/>Sunny is looking for a patient, loving family who will show him that the world can be a safe and happy place. It won't take long before his adorable face and sweet personality completely win you over.<br/><br/>What his foster says about him:<br/>"Sunny is an incredibly affectionate, gentle, and loving little dog. He loves cuddling, sitting, and napping in your lap. Almost immediately upon meeting him, you will not be able to resist his adorable face and sweet personality."<br/><br/>INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?<br/>To adopt apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.<br/><br/>PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.<br/><br/>Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
