Sunny's Story
Meet Sunny!

Sunny is a 9 pound male chihuahua currently slightly under 2 years old (as of end of August 2026 he is 22 months). Sunny was given up to rescue as his owner had too many dogs and could not properly care for him. When he entered rescue, he had not yet received any type of vet care (we changed that, of course!). Sunny is white and brown.

Sunny loves attention, toys, and being in your lap. He is a snuggler and wants to be in his human’s lap whenever possible. He will fetch toys for as long as you’re willing to throw them for him, and then gather all of the toys in a pile on the sofa for you. As is common with chihuahuas, Sunny is a good watch dog and barks to alert you of any strange noises. He is very playful, rides well on long trips, and sleeps through the night in his humans’ bed. Sunny does well with other small dogs but could also likely do fine as an only dog provided his owner doesn’t leave him alone often. He wants to be with his human. He should go to a home with a fenced yard and preferably an owner experienced with chihuahuas. He is leash trained and good with kids.

Sunny is house trained, however he does occasionally mark where the other male dogs do (there are several other young male dogs in his current foster home).

Sunny has been fully vetted and is up to date on his vaccinations. He is neutered and microchipped. He is on monthly heartworm prevention and is heartworm negative.

Sunny’s adoption donation is $300.

If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below.

To submit an application go here: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled.

Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.

Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.
