Sunflower's Story

Meet Sunflower 🌻

Sunflower is a doodle with a heart as big as her personality. She was found wandering the streets of St. Paul on what appeared to be a very important solo mission. What that mission was, we may never know—but one thing became obvious the moment she was safe: Sunflower’s favorite thing in the world is people.

To know Sunflower is to be loved by Sunflower. She adores her humans with her whole heart and wants nothing more than to be close to her people, soaking up affection and giving it right back. She’s the kind of dog who forms deep bonds and thrives on companionship.

This smart girl already knows some basic commands and loves to learn. She’s eager, intelligent, and happiest when she has both mental and physical enrichment. Whether it’s training sessions, puzzle toys, sniff walks, or learning a new skill, Sunflower enjoys having a purpose and being included in daily life.

She is successfully kennel trained, although she may voice her opinions a bit while settling in. Because of this, she would do best in a home without shared walls—so no apartments or townhomes for this expressive lady.

****Now for the most important thing to know about Sunflower: she truly needs to be the only dog in the home.****

While she has previously lived with other dogs, it’s clear that sharing her space with canine companions causes her stress and prevents her from fully relaxing. Sunflower is happiest, most comfortable, and most successful when she can have her home, routine, and humans all to herself. She does not want dog friends, dog park playdates, or a bustling social scene—and that’s okay! Her perfect home is one where she can be the center of attention without the pressure of navigating other animals.

Because of this, we are looking for a dog-free home where Sunflower can truly decompress, feel secure, and shine as the amazing companion she is meant to be. Cats are currently unknown.

Sunflower also prefers a quieter lifestyle overall. Busy breweries, crowded outings, and chaotic environments can overwhelm her. She’s much more of a “stay home and cuddle on the couch” kind of girl.

She is currently taking a low-cost daily anti-anxiety medication that has helped her feel more comfortable and confident while adjusting to rescue life. The medication is inexpensive, easy to manage, and may not even be something she needs lifelong once she’s settled into the right home and routine.

If your idea of happiness is a loyal best friend, peaceful evenings, and a dog who will love you with her entire soul, Sunflower may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for. She’s ready to be the queen of her castle—and she’s hoping to find someone who wouldn’t want it any other way. 💛
