Summer's Story

Summer
1 year, spayed female, 16 lbs
Terrier mix

LIKES: Playing with other small playful dogs, running, being outside, treats and food, people (once she trusts them).

DISLIKES: Big energy dogs over 40 lbs. Being picked up by humans.

PERSONALITY TRAITS: Summer is a sweet girl still learning how to be a dog in a human world. She is very playful and has medium-high energy and loves being outside in a yard. She is athletic and can jump high and run fast. She has almost zero experience walking on leash and will need to work on this and would do best learning with another dog. She is crate trained and will settle without any fuss in a crate. She is alert and will bark when needed, but quickly responds to correction. She has decent recall in a yard. She is playful mouthy and will mouth hands when they are extended to pet her, but she is learning to just get pets instead. She will chase or bark at cats if they run but has zero aggression and would be fine with dog savvy cats. She is completely submissive and rolls on her back when she is unsure or wary of a situation.

POTTY TRAINING: Nearly 100% unless she is not crated and left out without the opportunity to go outside. She can use a dog door.

CRATE TRAINING: She likes her crate and runs into it at her foster home for a treat.

OTHER/MISC: She is not a lap dog. Summer is still learning how to interact with humans and is beginning to like getting some pets, and she dive bombs her foster mom a couple of times a day on the couch to get some pets. But she isn't one to fall asleep cuddling (yet). She needs a home with a fenced yard or fenced area, and another (under 40 lbs) playful dog that can help her with her confidence around humans. She has a lot of potential and is submissive and treat motivated. In time with some patience and a little training, she will be a great companion. She raised four sweet puppies and they found their homes, now it's her turn.

To further inquire about SUMMER, submit an application.
https://wigglytails.org/adoption-application/

Tell us about yourself, family, other pets, and how SUMMER will mesh with your lifestyle. Qualifying applicants will be contacted by our Adoption Coordinator with next steps and an opportunity to set up a Meet & Greet.

Our process is NOT a “first come, first served” process.
