SULTAN - COURTESY POST FOR BRAMPTON ANIMAL SERVICES's Story
Sultan is not currently with Caledon Animal Services. This is a courtesy post for Brampton Animal Services

Meet Sultan!

Majestic in name and spirit, Sultan is a one-year-old Turkish Kangal looking for a very special home that understands his heritage as a true flock guardian dog. Kangals are known for their loyalty, independence, and protective instincts — qualities that shine brightly in Sultan.

Sultan would thrive in a rural or large-property setting where he can spend plenty of time outdoors keeping watch over his space. Apartment or condo living isn’t for this big-hearted boy — he loves the open air and will often “flop” over on his side in protest when it’s time to come back inside!

Because of the stress of shelter life, Sultan has become a bit jumpy and mouthy. Our team is actively working with him, but his future family will need to continue consistent, positive training to help him build confidence and learn good manners. Experience with livestock guardian breeds or strong working dogs will be a huge plus for understanding his unique needs and natural instincts.

Despite his big bark and guardian nature, Sultan is a total sweetheart with people. There isn’t a human he won’t happily roll over for in exchange for belly rubs. He enjoys playing fetch and tossing around stuffed toys, showing off his goofy and affectionate side once he feels safe and loved.

If you have the space, time, and experience to give Sultan the lifestyle he was born for — and the patience to help him blossom into the loyal protector he’s meant to be — he’ll reward you with endless devotion and love.

Recommendations:
-flock dog experience
-large breed experience
-obedience training

If you are interested in adopting Sultan please contact Brampton Animal Services at 905.458.5800 for more information.
