Sulley's Story

Beneath it is the happiest, goofiest, most lovable boy you'll ever meet. Sulley approaches life with pure joy. He loves people, loves food, loves belly rubs, and is convinced that every person he sees is on their way over to tell him what a good boy he is.

The Promise We Made to Sulley
When Sulley joined Made a Promise Rescue, we promised we'd find him a home where he would be truly loved and free to be exactly who he is. A home where his joyful personality could shine and where he'd never again feel discarded.

He deserves to be cherished, celebrated, and loved for the incredible dog he is.

At a Glance
Energy: Medium

Training: Working on potty training, walks well on a leash, and continuing to learn the basics.

Dog Friendly: Seems to be. Previous owners reported Sulley lived with a female dog.

People Friendly: Yes

Kid Friendly: Has done wonderfully with the children he's met.

Cat Friendly: Previous owners reported he lived with cats.

Personality
Sulley is playful, affectionate, strong, and wonderfully goofy.

His foster jokes that he probably doesn't have a lot of brain cells, and they mean that in the most loving way possible. Sulley isn't trying to outsmart anyone. He's much more interested in figuring out how to get closer to you for another cuddle.

When he comes over for attention, he comes in with his whole heart. He'll happily lean into you before dramatically rolling onto his back and stretching out for belly rubs, soaking in every bit of love you're willing to give. The more affection, the better.

He's simply a fun loving boy who reminds you not to take life too seriously.

In the Home
Sulley is currently living in a foster home where he's rotated from the resident dogs, but he handles that routine well. He's content relaxing on his own when needed and has been friendly during the interactions he's been able to have with the other dogs.

His days are pretty simple, just the way he likes them: good food, nice walks, plenty of cuddles, and spending time with his people. His foster describes him as having that forever puppy spirit that makes every day a little more fun.

With Other Dogs
Sulley's previous owners shared that he lived successfully with a female dog.

Based on what we've been told and what we've observed, we believe Sulley would likely do well with another compatible dog or be just as happy soaking up all the attention as an only dog.

With People
Sulley absolutely loves people.

When he sees someone walking toward him, he's convinced they're coming over to say hello. If they walk past without stopping, he genuinely seems disappointed.

He's met both young children and older adults in his foster neighborhood and has done wonderfully with everyone.

With Kids
Sulley has done great with the children he's met.

Because he's such a big, strong boy who doesn't always realize his size, he could accidentally bump into or knock over a small child while asking for attention or playing. Families with little ones should simply keep that in mind.

With Cats
While we don't have firsthand experience seeing Sulley with cats, his previous owners reported that he lived with them.

Training and Care
Sulley is continuing to learn in his foster home. He's working on potty training and walks nicely on a leash.

He enjoys spending time with his people, and his goofy personality makes every training session a little more entertaining.

Ideal Home
Sulley doesn't need anything extravagant.

He's looking for a family that appreciates big dogs, goofy personalities, and lots of affection. Whether he becomes the center of attention as an only dog or joins a home with a compatible canine companion, we think he'll be happiest with people who enjoy sharing their lives with him.

And if you've always wanted a lap dog who will most definitely not fit on your lap, Sulley is ready to prove that size is just a suggestion.

A Note from the Foster
Sulley is simply the best. He has a fun spirit, a good heart, and so much love to give. He brings joy wherever he goes, and it's hard not to smile when you're around him.

Promise Pup Highlight
How is that giant blockhead even real? It looks like someone drew the world's happiest dog and accidentally made his head just a little too big. Somehow, it suits him perfectly.

The Promise Moving Forward
We promised Sulley we'd help him find everything he deserved but hadn't yet experienced: a family who loves him, cherishes him, and sees just how special he is.

We'll keep that promise until the day he finally goes home.
