Stubby's Story

Stubby is an approximately 6 year old smaller mixed breed dog who came in via the NBSPCA. Stubby is a kind companion. He is over the puppy foolishness and just ready to be someone's loyal companion.

Stubby is nervous of other dogs and can be very growly and barky if he thinks they are going to approach. We were told that Stubby does not like large dogs and it could be that living with another large male dog, there were some issues. Stubby is non-reactive on walks which is wonderful. You can have your stroll and he's not looking for trouble.

Stubby is nervous in the car and needs more time to get used to it, he is quiet and clean in his kennel.

Stubby has shown some minor food and toy guarding. He lived in a home with several other dogs, so it's not surprising that keeping his resources is important to him. Because of this we are seeking an older child or adult home.

Stubby has lived with up to 3 or more other dogs. But it would be important for him to meet any new dog. Female/male relationships tend to work best, but he could possibly live with another mild male dog. It would be important to feed separately and watch for conflict over items or attention.

Stubby has seen cats at the shelter and seems curious, but we are able to call him away.
