Breed: Cattle dog/Australian Shep mix maybe<br/>DOB: 2000<br/>Sex: Spayed female<br/>Weight:  40 pounds<br/><br/>Hi everyone I’m Storm. <br/><br/>I’m a spayed 40 lb female estimated to be about 2 years old. Cattle dog and possibly Australian Shepherd mix. I really did not grow up in the best of conditions. But still I was so scared when I had to leave that place and go to the shelter- I had never been anywhere else or seen so many people and I was “terrified.” So I moved into my foster home instead and now I’m loving life and ready to find my forever family. <br/><br/>Because I wasn’t socialized growing up I’m more timid around new people. I’m interested when company comes over but a little wary. I’ll come up to take a treat but might want to eat it a few feet away. I get anxious riding in the car. I do ok when the other dogs ride with me, but if I go by myself I have to ride in a carrier so I don’t jump around the car or crawl onto foster moms lap. I love foster mom, but foster dad is still a little “big and scary” even though I’ve lived with him a few months now. I’m getting better but sometimes I need extra encouragement to go up and say hi. We’re not sure if it’s all men I’m afraid of or just tall loud ones… Remember it’ll take me a few days to calm down and get used to my new home, and a few weeks before I fully settle in so I need someone that will be patient with me.<br/><br/>Keep in mind I have herding dog instinct in me. I did some very successful cattle dog nips to my foster humans legs when I first was learning to run around in the yard with them (don’t think aggression, I’m trying to herd the cattle the way I want them to go which is what I was bred for). I figured out they don’t like that for some reason, now I just do lighter nibbles instead.  Because of this we would probably recommend I go to a family with no kids or kids over 10 years old, unless you have experience raising herding dogs with children. I really should be fine around kids otherwise but running around in the yard without supervision could incur a nip if I get too excited. <br/><br/>Now all the good things about me! I'm super sweet and silly. I really like other dogs and have been good with both very small and large dogs. I haven’t been around cats, foster mom thinks probably not unless it’s a brave cat that isn’t scared of dogs in which case we could see. I’d love to have another dog at my house to play with! I like to wrestle with the other dogs here and play tug of war.<br/><br/>I love going for walks. I still haven’t really figured out how to play fetch but I like to run after the other dogs when they play. I'm good with being crated but I behave myself pretty well at home and don’t need to be. I'm house trained here, but my new family should be prepared for a few accidents as I adjust to a new place and new routine.<br/>I bark a lot when my family gets home cuz I’m so excited so it’s not recommended I live at an apartment or I’ll bother the neighbors. But don’t worry I don’t bark too much otherwise. I’m medium to high energy, my new family needs to exercise me and take me on walks pretty routinely, and a fenced in yard to run around in would be a big plus. I’m not a huge on your lap dog cuddler, but I do like to lay next to foster mom on the couch or sleep at the end of the bed. I learned a few commands easily already, like shake and sit pretty. <br/><br/>I’m spayed and up to date on my vaccines. I just got over a really bad ear infection that was probably left untreated for months. The vet thinks I might have had fleas in the past and been allergic because I have some areas on my hindquarters and tail where my skin is bad and I have very sparse fur. The vet says this should get better but it’s going to take time to heal. (I’m still a beauty and you won’t notice unless you’re looking for it). I’m starting to get some fur to grow back in places. It would be best to keep me on flea preventative year round so this doesn’t happen to me again. The vet noticed I have a very mild heart murmur but it doesn’t really impact my health and I was fine for anesthesia for my spay surgery. <br/><br/>Come meet me!
