STIX's Story

Stix (A567890) arrived as a stray in rough shape. He is mostly bones right now and absolutely needs groceries, but even in this condition he has shown us nothing but love. He is one of those dogs who should be bitter about the world, yet somehow chooses kindness every time. He is incredibly food motivated which makes sense for a dog who has clearly gone without. Stix already knows sit and offers it quickly if he thinks it will earn him a treat. He is very sweet and likes to stay close, leaning in when he feels safe enough to do so. He has been tested with a female dog and preferred simply hanging out and coexisting in the yard rather than playing. Stix is gentle with other dogs and seems to enjoy quiet companionship over roughhousing. He has had a hard start but he is trying so hard to move forward. What he needs now is a home that will fill his bowl, fill his heart and help him put weight back on so he can be the strong, healthy dog he deserves to be. Stix is estimated to be around 4 years old and weighs 40 pounds. All animals adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are microchipped, appropriately vaccinated, spayed/neutered and given a 30 day flea/tick preventative. Ready to meet Stix? Stop by 4950 Triana Blvd SW in Huntsville, Alabama. No appointment is necessary to meet our available animals. All adopters must be 19 years or older and be able to provide a valid ID.
