Meet smilin’ Steven! <br/><br/>**APPLICATIONS CLOSED** Steven is a sweet and affectionate dog full of infectious, pawsitive energy and fun! He’s a mostly poodle mix with a great smile that has settled in easily with his foster parents and foster-fur sibs and is now ready for his forever family.<br/><br/>Steven was rescued from the street in a rural area outside of Bogota, Colombia during one of our sterilization campaigns in late 2020. He was in rough shape with matted fur and he was skin and bones. He was taken to a foster home in Bogota where he bounced back in characteristic Steven style. Now, he’s just about 2 years old and a nice medium-sized guy at about 22 lbs.<br/><br/>Steven (not Steve, not Stevie) is a fantastic dog -- super-friendly, easy-going and well-balanced. He walks nicely on the leash, rides well in the car and was a very good boy at his Canadian vet appointment. He’s a medium-energy dog that loves his walks and exploring with his foster fam, but he’s not the kind of guy that wants to run a marathon. He’s super snuggly too! He would do well with a family with lots of time to devote to hangin’ out, walks and, of course, TLC! Steven has not been tested with cats or young kids. He lives with 2 other dogs now and lived with multiple dogs in his foster home in Colombia with no issues. He would love another small dog to play with. Dog-savvy kids 12+ could be a great fit for Steven, especially if they love to snuggle too!<br/><br/>Steven currently lives in a house with a fenced yard, but could probably live in a condo as well He has been vetted in both Colombia and Toronto. He is house trained, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and has tested negative for vector-borne diseases in a SNAP 4Dx test. Life on the street takes its toll on these dogs and Steven’s teeth are in need of a good clean, the rescue will be paying for his dental which is scheduled for February 2021, his new family must be willing to bring him to his appointment at Beaches Animal Hospital. Smilin' Steven will have an even more brilliant smile very soon. <br/><br/>Steven’s adoption fee is $1550.00 and this is largely due to cargo fees and other expenses associated with his flight to Canada. Save a Friend Dog Rescue conducts ongoing spay-neuter and public education campaigns in Colombia to help combat the pet overpopulation problem there.
