STELLA (HOSPICE)'s Story

Stella found herself roaming the streets with only one functioning eye and the other leaving her in constant throbbing pain due to glaucoma that had been ignored by her previous owner. We don’t know how long she was on her own before she was rescued by a Good Samaritan who got her into the care of the dog shelter. Unfortunately for Stella, her adoption exam revealed the need for her eye to be removed as well as a tumor to be removed from her rear leg, not making her a regular adoption candidate but available to rescue which is where we stepped in. Sadly, Stella’s biopsy results revealed the cause of her blind eye being from glaucoma secondary to a tumor in the eye (iris melanoma) and the tumor on her leg (mast cell tumor) being cancer as well. Since surgery, Stella has developed more bumps and we have also discovered a mass in her lung. At this time, Stella doesn’t know she had cancer and she is not letting it stop her from loving every two and four legged individual she meets. We are looking for a hospice foster for Stella … we want whatever days to weeks to months she has left to be full of love especially considering the neglect she suffered before she came to us. She is crate trained and housebroken and we have yet to hear her bark. She navigates well with just one eye and loves to be outside in nice weather. We suspect she is a Beagle Bulldog Boxer mix based on her appearance, about 40lbs, and likely 8-10yrs old. Hospice foster - all medical and routine care costs covered.

If you would like to meet STELLA please complete a foster application, copy and paste this link into your browser

https://fs17.formsite.com/adoptionscc/ad26sa0c4d/index

Any vaccinations/boosters due after adoption is finalized will be the new owner's responsibility. All animals are current at time of adoption but in some cases a booster series is required or a vaccine cannot be given due to age and cannot be completed prior to adoption

Our adoptable animals come to us from various sources, the most common being from an animal shelter who is unable to handle their physical or mental needs in the shelter setting but believe with the appropriate care, they can become adoptable.
