Stella has just started a potty routine, she is still terrified of men and has just started being comfortable with my husband. Stella is going to need a very patient, calm home when she is ready to be adopted. She has a lot of fears to work through so she is not ready for her new home yet.

12/16/25-An update on Stella. She is more comfortable around my husband, but trembles if I leave the room for long, she is afraid to be alone with him but starting to believe he is not going to hurt her. She has been terrified of the garage, she stops in her tracks, we’ve only taken her out there twice with us & each time we had to carry her to the garage. When her ball rolls too far from her, maybe off into another area of the room she immediately becomes submissive and afraid to go get it. Last night the nightlight didn’t come on, its automatic, and she was panting and had a lot of anxiety in the dark. I’m wondering if she had a bad experience alone in the dark? Once I put the nightlight on she was calm and fell asleep.

I took her for a ride, filled up gas and a man walked by the car and stopped to check his wallet and she freaked out, head down and tail down, I comforted her and saw she urinated from the fear. She is doing great other than that. She loves romping and playing my husband has been giving her all her meals so she can associate something positive, and she is very comfortable. He gave her some chicken from his hand and it is breaking the ice, it’s just these little things that pop up that really scare her. She roams the whole house, and digs through the toy box. She really is a lovely girl, just very sad her spirit seems crushed right now. My husband and I were talking about what would happen if someone adopting her visited her, it could be challenging as she is now. We may keep working with her here instead of sending her back to her foster home as Stella is making a lot of progress, but will need more time to overcome what happened to her (whatever it was) before she is ready to be adopted. We are willing to support her however we can.

12/14/25-Stella moved to a respite foster home this weekend while her foster Mom goes on vacation this week. Stella had a moment yesterday where she suddenly got really frightened of my husband again and hid for a bit, he was just rinsing his mug over the sink and when he turned around she was terrified. I thought maybe it’s just my husband, so I asked my neighbor and his wife to stop by and meet Stella. They are extremely careful and respectful of animals, and at first Stella was afraid but carefully went up and greeted the wife with a lick on the hand and then sped off with her ball. When her husband came up, who is shorter and leaner than my husband, she was trembling, head down, tail down. He sat down and didn’t make eye contact, didn’t force any petting and she got comfortable enough to circle around him with some distance, but was very fearful when he made any movements, even just adjusting his body to the seat. She eased up on the wife a lot & they played bal & Stella was wagging and bouncing all over. It does appear some trauma with a man happened maybe before coming to rescue. When either men here made any sharp movements, even just to stand Stella was very scared. She got up and greeted my husband this morning with wiggles, but definitely has PTSD at times. This morning she was a bit scared but as the day progressed she seemed to be more comfortable around my husband, accepting hugs and kisses.

12/6/25-Stella has been perfect while here. She is always happy and wants to lick you. She does not take any treats yet, just eats her meals. She was panting in the car the other day when we did errands & was a little weird last night. Shutting the lights off and going to bed, she started panting and going from the bedroom to the door. So I thought she needed to go out. We walked around & she did nothing. We came back in and she was panting and going from the bedroom to the door again. So again, I got up & took her out again. She didn't have to do anything. We came back in and I put the TV on and sat with her. After a time, I took her to bed with me and she settled down and went to sleep until I woke up this morning. I am not sure what her problem was, but I wonder, in a busier environment at her previous home, that this is why they medicated her. She seemed frantic. Still adjusting to so many changes in a short time. Stella is going to need another couple of weeks in foster care to destress & for us to see her true personality & her needs for a new home.

12/01/25-Picked up my new foster Stella yesterday and brought her home today. She is pooped. I’ll have to wake her for dinner. Lol She is a good girl & has been a little shy. Well, it didn't take long for her to start investigating her new surroundings. She found her tennis balls and it was all play from there. I throw it across the room and she slides across the floor and grabs it. We repeated that about 10 times, then we went outside. She watched the activity around the parking lot, but never barked or fussed about them. She ate a good supper and curled up on the couch waiting for the Patriots game to start. She is shy right now, but is starting to open up. More updates to follow.

11/23/25-Stella is a beautiful 3 year old female boxer owner surrender that came into rescue today. She has reached her foster home thanks to her transport volunteers & is resting quietly and comfortably. She was given up by her owners as they had 3 kids under 4 & they said due to her high levels of energy she is a safety risk for their children as she knocks them over and runs into them. She also excessively licks them & causes frustration in the children. She lived with a small dog but was testy with the other dog around food & water & human attention, so she needs to be an only dog too in her new home. They also said she has high prey drive so not good with their cat either. Stella would love a home where she can be the princess & get some of her young boxer energy out too. She will be moving to a foster home without other pets next week.
