Stella Blue's Story

Stella Blue is a beautiful and regal Pittie and Mastiff mix. She has a beautiful brindle coat and is 2.5 years old and fully grown at 75 pounds. She lost her home when her owner had to move and couldn't take her so she's now living with a great Foster Mom in Suffolk County. Stella LOVES to retrieve and her foster mom was surprised to find out she also loves to take a bath. She's easy to live with because she she has a low to medium energy level. All she needs is someone to throw her ball for her for 15 minutes once or twice a day, the rest of the time she'll bask in the sun outside, or lay beside you and watch tv. She's very well-mannered and highly intelligent and fully housebroken. Stella's ideal home would have a fenced yard so she can play and lounge in the sun to her heart's desire. She'd be happy as an only dog or with a large mellow male dog. Due to her larger size we'd suggest kids be over 12 years old. Reach out to Wendy (doberesq@verizon.net) to get more info on Stella!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy

Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
