Stella's Story

*** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, or FOSTER TO ADOPT ***

Meet sweet Stella! She is currently in our P.A.C.K. Program, a 9-week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer and she is almost ready to show off her new skills! Her new abilities include 'sit', 'down', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent.

Stella really enjoys the company of other dogs and people. Give her a little time to adjust to a new environment and she will shine! While a bit hesitant at first, she'll melt into you once she feels she's safe.

She likes to play with the other dogs up at PACK but can be a bit of a wild child if she hasn't been able to play in a while. Being fairly young still, her puppy brain sometimes overrules and she gets hyped up. She's done really well at listening to commands though and regulating her own energy.

Stella enjoys her walk time. She may forge ahead a bit at first but once her focus is regained her handler called her a "joy to walk".

She has done well being left alone in her crate and doesn't bark much when left alone.

When we first introduced her to cats, she showed a little interest but backed off when they gave her clear signals. She may be ok with supervision and patience in a home with a cat. We do not have history of her living with any cats prior.

Stella will graduate in the beginning of May and can't wait to start her new adventure with you! Apply to meet her today.

Black Dog Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
BDAR considers pet adoption to be a privilege and that good pet owners can demonstrate a history of responsible practices. Our basic requirements are as follows: Adopters must be at least 18 years of age Adopters’ current pets must be current on their rabies vaccination per local ordinances Adopters must be able to provide a current veterinary reference if they own other pets or have recently owned pets If the adopter rents, they must be able to provide a landlord reference stating that pets are allowed on the property Adopter cannot intend for the animal to be kept as an outdoor only pet, or for the primary mode of containment to be tethering Adopters must be a good match for the animal in question as determined by our adoption counselors Our adoption fees includes spay or neuter, current age appropriate vaccinations, microchip with lifetime registration, a free first vet exam, and 30 free days of pet health insurance. A note about our adoption fees: BDAR utilizes a variable pricing structure for all of its adoptable animals. Adoption fees are determined based on an animal's perceived desirability, age, training or medical investment, and the length of time they have been available for adoption. Some animals are priced higher than others. These animals' adoption fees provide a legacy gift for others in the program who may need additional resources in order to get the same chance in a forever home.
