Stella's Story
Meet Stella!

Female | 2 years old | 26lbs | Boxer Mix | UTD on shots and is scheduled to be spayed | Rescued from a Northern Community in Manitoba | Currently being fostered in Toronto

Background

Stella’s story begins in Berens River, where this brave girl went into labour under the most heartbreaking circumstances. Exhausted, emaciated, and barely clinging to strength, she faced a critical emergency when one of her puppies became stuck. She was immediately flown by airplane to Winnipeg—because her life mattered and every second counted.

At the emergency vet, they helped deliver her second puppy. Later that night, at her foster’s home, she delivered a third baby who was tragically stillborn. Through it all, Stella remained gentle… and heartbreakingly weak. She was so emaciated she ranked roughly 2/10 on a body condition scale, and both she and her surviving pups were severely anemic. After giving everything she had to bring her babies into the world, Stella couldn’t even stand.

But this is where her village stepped in.

Our incredible partners at K9 Advocacy Manitoba took one look at Stella and knew she needed round-the-clock care. They placed her with an extraordinary foster who poured love, nutrition, and safety into this fragile little family. Slowly, Stella found her feet again. Slowly, her body began to heal.

Today, Stella has regained so much of her strength, but her road to recovery continues. She still needs to gain weight, and she’s still learning that humans can be safe. But once you earn her heart… wow. You feel it. Stella loves with her whole soul. She’s gentle, easy-going, and a total cuddle bug who just wants what she has always deserved: love, softness, and a forever family that sees her worth.

She arrived in Toronto withe her puppies, Randy and Judy, who are thriving as well and also looking for their furever families!

Personality

Stella is a gentle, quiet, and sweet-natured girl with a big heart. She is shy and reserved at first, especially in new environments or around new people, but with patience, calm energy, and a few treats, she warms up quickly. Once she feels safe, Stella is incredibly affectionate and cuddly, happiest when she’s close to the person she trusts. She’s low-key, rarely vocal, and prefers a peaceful, predictable routine.

Ideal Home

Stella would thrive in a calm, quiet household with minimal noise and commotion. A suburban or rural home in a low-traffic area would suit her best, and a fenced yard would help her feel more secure while building confidence outdoors. She’s well-suited to a solo adopter or a couple who enjoys a relaxed lifestyle. While she could live with children or other pets, introductions would need to be slow and gentle, as sudden movements and loud sounds can be overwhelming for her.

Training & Activity

Stella is house-trained and does well when left alone, happily resting or sleeping throughout the day. She knows come and leave it and is currently working on sit, loose-leash walking, and confidence outdoors. Walks are kept short and positive while she adjusts to city sounds, and puzzle toys are a favorite way to keep her mentally engaged. With patience, consistency, and reassurance, Stella will continue to grow more confident and comfortable in her surroundings.

Summary

Stella is a sweet, gentle 2-year-old girl with a quiet nature and a big heart. Shy at first, she blossoms with patience, calm energy, and treats, becoming an incredibly cuddly and loyal companion. She’s happiest in a peaceful home where she can feel safe and loved while continuing to build her confidence at her own pace and is looking for a family who will continue to support her and understand her as she grows!

**NOTE** All adoption applicants must be residents of Ontario, Canada to be considered.

Apply here to Adopt
http://seapawsrescue.org/adoptionApplication.html
