Stella’s FAQs

What is West Milford Animal Shelter’s adoption process?

Stop by any day we're open, no appointment required. Fill out the pre-adoption form at the shelter and then spend as much time as you like with any of our adoptable pets. If you are interested in adopting a dog and you have a dog at home, please bring your dog for the two of them to meet. We typically require the dogs to have two meetings before we allow one of our dogs to go home with you. Bring your Vet's information and make your vet aware that you are looking for a new pet. We do call Vets for reference for all adoptions and sometimes a Vet will not give us information unless you have given them permission first. If you rent, do not own your own home, please bring a copy of the lease/contract or your landlord's contact info so we can see proof you are allowed a pet. We thank you for considering to adopt from us! And hope to see you soon!
