Steele's Story

This handsome Australian Shepherd boy is Steele,, who just turned six years old in early June. He is neutered and up to date on preventatives. Unfortunately, Steele finds himself in need of a new home because his owner has sadly passed away unexpectedly. He is housebroken, crate-trained, rides well in the car, and weighs in at around 58 pounds. Steele has had extensive training and has an impressive list of titles in several venues, including traditional obedience, rally obedience, tricks, Fetch, and scent work: SCN4 novice level title(ASCA); ORT, NW1, and L1I(NACSW); CD, BN, RA, FDC, SWN, CGCA, CGCU, TKI, ATT, and FITG(AKC). He is quite accomplished!

But the best thing about Steele is that he would be a wonderful companion. He is quite social and loves people. He's not lived with cats so would be best without them. He might be okay with a female canine companion but no other males. Steele is on the medium to higher energy scale and will need regular, consistent exercise ; he will also need an experienced owner. His exuberance might be a bit much for younger children unless they are very dog-savvy, so over 8-9 years of age would be best. Steele sometimes has a lot to say about things. A fenced yard is preferred, but homes without one would be considered on an individual basis.

This special boy is ready to continue his path of competition success or to be the best, most devoted companion you've ever had. Whatever you want him to be, he'll be all in. He is located near Binghamton, NY, and anyone interested must travel to meet him. Although Steele is not in the ARPH program, we are helping to find him a new home. If you think that might be you, the first step would be to submit an adoption application from the ARPH website, www.aussierescue.org The adoption fee would be a donation to rescue.
