STAR's Story

MEET STAR! STATS: 1.5 years old, spayed, American Staffy Mix, 65 lbs AFFECTION/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a LAND SEAL! Hear me roar! Ok, I don’t roar at all – I'm too busy being a chunky goober! I love waddling around the yard and getting bursts of playful energy – and I have quite a few of those! WHAT I LOVE: I love playing with my friends, trotting around the yard, and just having a great time! I also REALLY love people, so any chance I can get to be close to my human friends is a win for me. They are constantly complimenting my beautiful and unique face (check out my cool little scar!) and telling me how gorgeous I am. Sometimes they make me wear hats because I am the only one who cooperates with it. I don’t mind though, because it seems to make them happy! KIDS: While I haven’t been formally tested with kids at the shelter, the staff thinks I would be good with kids who understand dogs. As long as are kind and respectful towards me, we will get along just fine! OTHER DOGS: I am dog friendly and go to playgroup every day at the shelter! CATS: No kitties, please. HER MATCH: I would do wonderfully with a family looking to coddle and love someone that really deserves it. I would do excellently with another dog or on my own – as long as I get the love and attention I so desperately crave, I will be more than happy! SPECIAL NOTE: You will never find a pup that looks like me! I get compared to a more beautiful Joaquin Phoenix! Complete an online application and get pre-approved to adopt at https://cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/PetAdoptionSurvey. Once you complete the app, a staff member will call you in 1-2 business days once approved to set up a time for you to meet the pet you are interested in. Every adoptable pet is Spayed or Neutered, implanted with a microchip, current on age appropriate vaccinations including a current 1-year Rabies Vaccination, and current on monthly Flea/tick prevention, and heartworm prevention for dogs. All pets are behaviorally and medically evaluated prior to being placed up for adoption. Adoptions are matched based on best placement and require no negative animal history.
