Meet Stanley — Our Sweet Senior Low-Rider!<br/><br/>Stanley is a 12-ish-year-old beagle/corgi mix (with maybe a dash of basset for extra charm) who stole our hearts the moment we met him. He arrived as a stray at JPAWS in mid-September, already neutered and microchipped, but no one ever came forward to claim him. When they brought him to our dog adoption event at Jefferson Feed in November, we took one look at his turned-out feet, his squishy little low-rider body, and his old-man sweetness… and we just couldn’t send him back to the shelter.<br/><br/>Stanley has already proven himself to be the kindest, happiest boy. He LOVES going for walks — that beagle nose is working overtime! His eyesight and hearing are a little “senior-select,” but his enthusiasm for sniffing every blade of grass makes up for it. Getting a picture of him was a challenge because he wants to stay on the move, but our Programs Director managed to get him to sit in her lap for a selfie. (If she didn’t already have 14 dogs, Stanley would be at her house!) Stanley spent the night at our volunteer dog adoption coordinator's home and they found that his favorite thing is being near his person. He got along with their senior small terrier and was able to use the dog door after a couple of lessons.<br/><br/>This sweet gentleman is heartworm negative, friendly, gentle, and just looking for a soft place to land for his golden years. If you have a cozy couch, a quiet home, and room in your heart for a senior low-rider, Stanley may be your perfect match.<br/><br/>Come meet this wonderful old soul — he deserves the best chapter yet.<br/><br/>He met our store cat Giuseppe, and he could sense Giuseppe's disgust with dogs and turned and walked the other way. So we think he would ignore cats. <br/><br/>Adoption fee includes vaccines, spay/neuter surgery, microchip and a heartworm test. Any dog that tests positive for heartworms can be treated through our Fix-A-Heart Program.
