Stanley - In Foster's Story
Meet Stanley — Your Built-In Best Friend (Low-Rider Edition)

Stanley is a 12-ish-year-old beagle/corgi mix (with maybe a little basset sprinkled in for extra flavor) who has mastered the art of being exactly where he belongs. Low to the ground, high on charm, and full of quiet joy — Stanley is the kind of dog who makes a house feel like home.

He came to JPAWS as a stray in September, already neutered and microchipped, but heartbreakingly, no one ever came looking for him. When he showed up at our Jefferson Feed adoption event in November, we took one look at his turned-out feet, squishy little body, and gentle old-man vibe… and there was no way he was going back to the shelter.

Now in foster care, Stanley has absolutely thrived. He fits seamlessly into a household with 12 dogs, which tells you pretty much everything you need to know about his temperament. He’s gentle, social, and affectionate — happily grooming and being groomed by his dog friends. He’s learned to use the doggy door, is trusted loose in the house, and is an all-around easy, wonderful companion.

Stanley is goofy in the best way. He gets so excited when his person comes home, loves to weave himself under you during workouts, and will plop down on your yoga mat like he’s part of the routine. (He may even initiate a little gentle play-wrestling — yes, seniors can still be fun.) On walks, that classic beagle nose kicks in and he’s thrilled to sniff every inch of the world, even if his eyesight and hearing are a bit “senior selective.”

He’s met cats too — including one very unimpressed store cat — and politely chose to turn around and mind his own business. We think he’d happily ignore cats in a home.

Stanley is heartworm negative, sweet as can be, and just wants to be near his people. He doesn’t need chaos or constant excitement — just a soft place to land, some love, and a family who sees how special senior dogs truly are.

He may not be a puppy, but Stanley still has plenty of joy, playfulness, and love to give. And honestly? He’s the kind of dog you’ll wonder how you ever lived without.

Come meet this wonderful old soul. His best chapter is still waiting.

Adoption fee includes vaccines, spay/neuter surgery, microchip and a heartworm test. Any dog that tests positive for heartworms can be treated through our Fix-A-Heart Program. Adopter has to buy a year supply of heartworm prevention before treatment begins.

DOWNLOAD our Adoption Application here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/ahiajf6e6i0ox2hdl09jk/JSPCA-Application_2.0-Newest-Updates.pdf?rlkey=be9he1julh02etikl021k9plk&dl=0

All adoptions subject to approval.
