Meet Squash

Squash is just adorable. He was adopted in January 2019 and was recently returned to us. He has neurological issues and general fear/anxiety. When he was adopted he had 1 seizure, but we don't know much about his medical history in the last year and a half. Unfortunately, he does have some neurological issues that affect his hind legs. Squash may walk a little funny, but he can walk and run like any other dog. He would not do well in a home with small children or a lot of activity. He takes a long time to warm up to new people and places so his forever family will need to be very patient. Squash is currently in a foster home and we received this update, “Squash loves to exercise! I walk with him on a leash daily and he runs and plays a lot. He has been on a walk in the park with my other dog twice. The car rides are sometimes scary. He will sit on the floor but eventually makes his way to the seat. He even put his head out the window along with my other pup. I am home a lot so I am his “go to person.” He is very cautious around my husband, but he has gone on walks with him around our yard and will sit with him. Very small steps for Squash! I will put him on the bed in the morning and he seems to like to snuggle. He is very quiet and tries to be a good boy. He prefers eating on the couch for some reason. He is still learning his pecking order with my dogs. Getting used to everything will just be a slow process for him.”

We rescued Squash and his momma, Raddish, from Animal Control. Their owner had too many dogs and could no longer care for them, so she surrendered them. Squash was in a foster home when he was first rescued in 2018 and they told us, "He is super affectionate and wants to be in the middle of any cuddle pile. He gets really bouncy when he’s excited. He loves to jump in my lap to get some love from me and my dog Lady. I think he would be in heaven in a home with other energetic and affectionate dogs." What a sweet boy! Squash's date of birth is 11/7/2017 and he weighs about 25 pounds.

Squash has been neutered, is current on all vaccines, is on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and comes with a 30 day pet health guarantee. The adoption fee is $95 with an approved application. A fenced yard is required. Visit fayettefcar.com to submit an application.
