Meet Squall! <br/><br/>Some dogs just seem to know when they've finally found a safe place to land. For Squall, that has been his foster home - and now he's hoping the next stop on his journey will be his forever home.<br/><br/>When Squall arrived at CARE, he was skinny and losing weight in the shelter. After just a few weeks of good food, care, and a little time to decompress, the transformation has been incredible. His coat is shining, his eyes are bright, and his happy, playful personality has had room to shine through. Now this handsome boy is ready for someone to see just how special he can be.<br/><br/>Squall has plenty of puppy-like energy and absolutely loves having fun. Give him a tennis ball and he is ready to play! He can chase and retrieve for as long as you're willing to keep throwing, happily bringing the ball back for another round. He also enjoys walks, exploring the world with his excellent nose, and chewing on his favorite toys. He can become very focused when he catches an interesting scent, so continued leash skills and impulse-control training will help him learn how to channel that enthusiasm.<br/><br/>But Squall has another side, too - and it may be our favorite. Once the fun is over, he can settle beautifully in the house. He is content to lie nearby while his people go about their day and enjoys curling up beside them for some well-earned couch cuddles. He has been completely house-trained in his foster home and has shown good manners around mealtimes. At night, he settles down for the evening and sleeps through the night.<br/><br/>Squall is also one smart cookie. He already knows sit, stay, and here, takes treats gently, and will patiently wait for his food until he is given the okay to eat. He has been working on down and heel and has made encouraging progress. His love of toys, treats, and attention makes training a fun way to keep his clever mind busy while building his confidence and skills.<br/><br/>Squall has been friendly with the people and dogs he has encountered and has enjoyed spending time with his foster family, including their 12-year-old grandson. As with any dog, introductions to new people, dogs, and environments should be thoughtful and allow everyone time to get comfortable.<br/><br/>Squall has already made such an incredible transformation. What he needs now is someone willing to continue investing in him - someone who will appreciate his goofy puppy energy, encourage his growing skills, give him plenty of opportunities to play and explore, and make sure he always knows he is loved.<br/><br/>He can be your fetch buddy, your walking companion, your training partner, and, when the day is done, the dog curled up beside you on the couch. Squall has so much love and potential to give. He just needs someone to choose him.
