Spots's Story

Meet Spots!

This handsome fella has an estimated birthdate of 08/08/2019 and weighs about 70lbs all of which he likes to plop onto your feet. This means he is in the perfect position to receive chest, neck and ear rubs all of which he adores and if you stop, he will look back at you with his toffee-colored eyes and say "Hey, why'd you stop? I was enjoying that." Our best guess is he's some variety of American Bulldog mix.

He came to us with prior experience with dogs, cats, and kids so we think he would do well in most households. He has met several dogs here at the shelter and seems open to having a dog companion. He's a pretty calm, easy-going dog from what we've seen so far. He is housetrained, likes car rides, and he knows sit, shake, and down. He walks fairly well on leash, but he is a strong boy and potential adopters will need to be capable of directing his muscles if he decides to investigate something gross (gross to us, fascinating to dogs.)
He is a huge fan of food and has shown a modest interest in toys, but what he really likes is attention from people. He is eager to please, and we think he will be easy to train for an adopter wanting to work with him.

Spots is heartworm positive, is undergoing treatment, and will need a fairly calm environment to live in while he completes the medication. Our staff would be happy to give more details on his treatment plan, and an adopter would need to live within an hour of the shelter. His adoption will be finalized after he completes treatment, and his medical care is included in the adoption fee.

If you've always wanted a big-headed love-bug to call your own, bop on over to our website: www.hsmcohio.org and get started by filling out an adoption application.

Our adoption fees vary, Shelter Dogs are $180, Prison Dogs are $250, Puppies are $300, and Popular Pure-Breeds are $400. The price includes: a Home Again Microchip, set of shots, de-worming, heartworm testing (if old enough), spay or neuter, and a 1 year rabies shot (if old enough). All dogs adopted must leave with a $21 county license.
