Spice's Story

Rebel girl, I'm queen of the world!

My name is Spice and I am a fashionista superstar. Our veterinarian estimated my age between 3-4 months old and while I may be small, I am certainly big in spirit!

I led the community on a whirlwind adventure as I decided to set up camp under a resident's shed. I was horribly frightened and was understandably reluctant to come out to a yard of unfamiliar faces. To further complicate matters, my entrance point was inaccessible to humans leaving the shelter's animal control department no choice but to dig for hours alongside the shed to reach underneath. Through all of this commotion, I retreated even further under the shed, hiding behind an immovable support board. Thanks to the unwavering dedication of the residents, I ventured out from under the shed and into the open yard. The shelter staff all breathed a collective sigh of relief once I was safe and in their custody.

Despite my adorable face and small frame, the staff does not feel that I am suitable for a family with small children at this time as I can be quite mistrusting of new people and can be nippy. I will require a patient family to help me discover the confidence I need to grow into a calm and stable adult dog. Applicants with resident dogs will be considered on a case-by-case basis based on gender and sterility status of the animals.
