Speedy's Story

Meet Speedy – The Sweet Old Soul Looking for His Final Forever Home

Speedy landed at the Lancaster Shelter on December 15, 2025. We all know a shelter is no place for a 13-year-old dog, and during the holidays, it’s especially heartbreaking. Our friends at Boston Buddies couldn’t bear to let him hang his stocking at the shelter, so we pulled him right away and got him into a loving foster home as soon as possible.

When Speedy arrived, he was battling an upper respiratory infection, but with antibiotics and TLC, he made a full recovery. Once he was strong enough, he had an eye enucleation and full dental, and after his “glow-up,” this gentle boy truly came alive.

Speedy is what we lovingly call a gentle giant — a larger Boston Terrier at 27 pounds with an even bigger heart. He’s a total sweetheart: submissive, mellow, and a little cautious in new situations. Despite his name, Speedy prefers to take life nice and slow.

He’s fully house-trained (uses the doggie door), neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and has tested negative for heartworm and fecal parasites. He’s the perfect gentleman:

• Great on leash

• Friendly with other dogs

• Quiet — never barks unnecessarily

• Doesn’t chew, dig, or jump on furniture

• Excellent car companion

At night, Speedy sleeps contentedly in his dog bed right beside his foster mom’s bed. He wears a diaper overnight, and each morning, his foster mom gently carries him downstairs for his morning potty break.

Speedy loves people and affection — he’ll gladly soak up attention from anyone who offers it. After all he’s been through, he still radiates love and sweetness.

If you’re looking to make 2026 your best year yet, add a little Speedy to your family — you won’t regret it!

Apply to adopt Speedy today at
https://www.bostonbuddies.org/adoption-application/

Speedy is located in Southern California

Adoption Donation: $200

View more photos on our facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/BostonBuddiesInc
