Sparky's Story
Sparky is a sweet 6 yr old female spayed German Shepherd that came to us after her elderly owner unfortunately passed away. She's been in foster in the Springfield IL area ever since, and we haven't heard one bad word about her - she's about as easy going and lovely to live with as one could ask for!

But first things first - she doesn't really respond to her name... you see, her previous owner would say things like "Good girl. Come on girl. Here girl." And so she seems to respond a bit better to "Girl" than Sparky. Her fosters have been calling her Pretty Girl or something along those lines, and she's catching on. She doesn't seem to mind much what you call her - she's still more than happy to stay by your side.

Sparky walks well on a leash, does great in a crate, and is house trained. She's currently living with other dogs and doing very well with it, but her fosters feel she may be happier in a home where she doesn't have to share the love with too many other friends. She's very devoted to her people, and would love as much one on one time as she's able to get. She's a lower energy GSD, but does occasionally show a playful spirit when out running with the other dogs in the home.

Sparky has also been exposed to cats (she seemed afraid of them), chickens, and rabbits (doesn't seem to have any prey drive). So while we won't say she's 100% safe around all tiny critters, we think she very well could be if introduced carefully. She is a big girl at 116 lbs, but don't let that scare you - she's just a gentle giant.

Sparky is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly prevention. She's all ready for the next chapter in her journey - all she needs is a forever family and a soft spot to land.
