Sparky and Peanut's Story

We are looking for a comfortable hospice home for two active, toothless seniors. Sparky (M) and Peanut (F) are estimated to be 13-14 years old and they've been together their whole life. Unfortunately their owner was admitted to the hospital earlier this year and these two found themselves in a local shelter for four months.

Sparky and Peanut have been with us for almost 2 months and are now fully vetted. Sparky weighs just under 12 lbs and Peanut weighs almost 8 lbs. Both had dentals and lost their remaining teeth, but that doesn't stop them from chowing down. They have great appetites.

These two are somewhat active for their age and would love a home where they can run around the yard, lounge on the couch, and get lots of love and attention. Peanut is great with everyone she meets, but Sparky would enjoy a home with fewer dogs where he can get more attention.

Peanut has heart disease specifically chronic valvular disease Stage B2. She currently takes one heart medication and should have a repeat echocardiogram in 3 months. This will be covered by VPR at our vet and we will provide 6 months of heart medication.

Sparky unfortunately has a bladder tumor. We are unsure what type of tumor he has, but we know surgery will not be an option. Sparky's biggest issue is he is constantly posturing to urinate, although nothing comes out. He feels pressure in his bladder, causing him to try to urinate. Right now he's on a few medications to make him more comfortable. VPR will cover an Internal Medicine consult for Sparky at Ocean State and cover any additional recommendations for his care.

To apply to adopt Sparky and Peanut, please fill out an application at vintagepetrescue.org/adopt
