Spade's Story

Spade is one of our longest residents and has been waiting for a home for over 85 days. 💔

It's heartbreaking to see any dog wait this long, but especially a senior who spent nearly his entire life in a loving home.

Spade is a 10-year-old, 38-pound Husky whose world changed when his longtime owner developed a chronic illness and could no longer care for him. Despite everything, Spade remains an incredibly sweet, affectionate boy with the gentlest soul.

Spade is a smaller, lower-energy Husky who could even be a great apartment companion! Unlike your typical high-energy Husky, he doesn't demand constant exercise or playtime. He enjoys some activity but is just as happy relaxing on the couch, giving kisses, and spending time with his people.

Spade is kennel-trained and making progress with potty training. He generally does well with other dogs but prefers mature companions over rowdy puppies.

He does have a little classic Husky mischief in him! Spade can climb fences and slip through open gates, so he'll need a home that can keep him safe.

After spending so many years being loved by one person, Spade deserves to experience that comfort and stability again. All this gentle senior wants is a safe place to land and someone to love him through his golden years.

Apply to adopt Spade through Arctic Rescue at arcticrescue.org/adopt.

Please note that all Arctic Rescue dogs are marked “Yes” for “Needs Experienced Adopter.” Northern breeds often have higher exercise, training, and care needs, so we encourage adopters without prior experience to research the breed before applying.

Arctic Rescue's Adoption Policy
HOW OUR ADOPTIONS WORK: 1) We require all adopters to fill out an online application at: https://www.arcticrescue.com/adopt 2) We are a Utah-based rescue. All potential adopters must come to Utah and meet the dogs. We do not transport dogs. 3) We want to make sure that your home is the perfect fit for one of our dogs and vice versa. We want all members of the family to be happy and well matched with each-other, so require families to do a phone interview, reference checks, meet dogs and pass a home-inspection before adoption.
