Sophie's Story
This little 7.9 pound nugget is looking for her forever family. She is 3 years old so we don't expect her to get any larger. She came to iPAW after she had been left with room mates and was in jeopardy of being surrendered to the local animals shelter. Fortunately her former mom wanted to do the right thing for her and she was released to the rescue. She has had a little bit of a rough start as she was in heat, needed all of her medicals and needed to gain a bit of weight and muscle mass in her thighs and backside. Good news is she is gaining weight, has gotten a clean bill of health and is scheduled for her spay on December 17, 2025. We are working on her gaining a bit of muscle mass in her back legs as she does have a funny gate and high stepping at times from what appears to be confinement. Right now she does have a grade 1 luxation in her patellas, but with exercise and a good diet she will be great in no time. She is a very devoted little dog and will sometimes bark at strangers (primarily men) but is happy to make up with them once she knows they mean no harm. She does well with other dogs and is smaller than most kitties so they should be no problem. We haven't seen her around small children, but older children should be no problem. She walks well on a leash, rides well in a car and is working on some basic tricks with her foster mom. We will not process her adoption until her spay has been completed, but we are currently taking applications and would consider moving her to her new home as a foster until she was ready for adoption. PLease email iPAWinc2022@gmail.com for an application
