Sophie's Story
Meet Sophie--16 year old Chihuahua mix.

Sophie is the kind of dog that quietly steals your heart and then surprises you with a little spark of personality when you least expect it.

From the moment she arrived in her foster home, Sophie has shown just how adaptable and resilient she is. Despite coming from an unstable environment, she settled in quickly—seeking out affection, engaging with her people, and showing a calm, loving presence right away. Even while recovering from a recent mass removal surgery, she still leaned into connection and love.

Sophie is a low-energy girl who enjoys a relaxed lifestyle, but she definitely has a playful side. Her morning zoomies are a daily highlight—especially when she races back inside after her first potty break, ready for breakfast and making sure you know it. She’s got just enough “spunk” to keep you smiling, without the overwhelm of a high-energy dog.

She walks beautifully on leash, has no reactivity out and about, and has been doing great with her routine at home. She’s house trained, settles well indoors, and communicates clearly when she needs to go out.

Sophie would thrive in a home that matches her energy—whether that’s a quieter, older household looking for a loving companion, or a younger home wanting an easygoing dog who still enjoys playtime. She could also be a wonderful “first dog” for someone looking to ease into dog ownership without the intensity of a puppy.

With other dogs, Sophie prefers respectful space. She’ll give a gentle correction if another dog gets too in her face, but she has shown no interest in escalating beyond that. A home that understands and respects her boundaries will help her feel most comfortable.

If you’re looking for a low-key best friend with just the right amount of personality, Sophie might be your girl!

Unknown if Sophie is good with kids. On her walks she doesn't notice them. Foster thinks she'd do well with respectful kids who have been taught how to property approach an animal.

She is microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines and recently had a dental cleaning. At her age, she will need yearly to bi-yearly check ups to make sure her health is being taken care of. Her adoption fee is $150. If you'd like to meet her, fill out our adoption application and our team will be in touch!
