She also felt that Sophie wanted to spend more time outside. While we can’t know exactly what Sophie was feeling in her previous home, what we do know is that she was an easy keeper at the shelter with excellent kennel manners and quickly showed everyone what a wonderful dog she is.

Sophie is housebroken, rides well in the car, and absolutely loves other dogs. She has been a rockstar in playgroups and enjoys getting out, having fun, and spending time with her canine friends. She is not a big barker and has a wonderful, easygoing personality. She was even the shelter’s female temperament tester dog, meaning she was the dog they used to test incoming dogs to see if they were dog friendly.

As a Hound-type dog, Sophie does have some prey drive and enjoys chasing squirrels and other small critters. She is not overly focused on cats, but caution is recommended in a home with cats, especially if the cat is likely to run. A confident cat who is comfortable around dogs may be a better match.

Now that Sophie is safely in Wisconsin, she is settling into foster care and showing what a great companion she can be. She would love a home that understands her Hound personality, gives her plenty of opportunities for exercise and enrichment, and will appreciate her easygoing, affectionate nature.

Sophie is ready for her next chapter and is looking for a forever home where she can feel safe, loved, and truly at home.

Update: Crate trained – almost there! She may bark for a little while before settling down for the night, but then sleeps through the night. She is also crated while her foster parents are at work during the day and is doing very well.

Age: 2.5 years
Gender: Female (spayed)
Weight: 46 lbs
Breed: Hound mix (best guess)
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Potty Trained: Yes
Crate Trained: almost there
Leash Manners: Working on it
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Cats: not really
Good with Kids: Yes

Sophie is settling nicely into foster care and would love to meet the person or family who will make her part of their forever home.
