Sophie American Staffordshire Terrier Valdosta, GA

Sophie is an around 13 year old Pit mix. Sophie’s age makes her a super senior but in spirit, she is still a young pup. She has been with the rescue on and off for several years and is seeking the perfect retirement home where she can take over all the soft pillows. Sophie loves zoomies, chilling, tummy rubs, snacks, car rides, couch surfing, and scratching her back. Sophie loves everyone!! Somewhere along the line someone told her that she wasn’t beautiful and when you go to give her affection, she puts her dead down as if she doesn’t realize that she deserves love. She can be very sensitive so has to be handled with a soft and loving tone. She would do well in any home that contains people, but a low energy retirement lifestyle is her best fit.
Sophie’s physical body has been out thru the wringer; she was used as a breeder, hit by a care requiring her to be ‘rebuilt” and being heartworm positive twice which resulted in an enlarged heart, but this gal keeps trucking along loving life. Sophie is on medication for pain/arthritis management, an enlarged heart, probiotics for tummy balance and thyroid issues. Due to Sophie being a senior and having physical ailments, she can get grumpy with other animals are in her face. She will need to be in a home with no other dogs or cats. We want Sophie to be able to live out her retirement peacefully and without aggravation.
Don’t let Sophie’s senior status fool you, she is strong and sassy. Sophie is still active because she doesn’t know how to stop living life. She sometimes forgets that she isn’t a Spring chicken, and will need a family to help guide her spirit so that she doesn’t over -extend her body. Sophie is an INSANE love bug. She is always happy to see her person and makes it her only goal in life to make them happy. She likes to sing, her favorite song is “woo woo”, and she will have a conversation with you. She is housetrained with a consistent schedule.
Seniors aren’t for everyone, but we now that there is a special family that has been waiting on a precious creature like her. Sophie deserves more than the hand that she has been dealt, and we are ready to help shuffle the cards!
Sophie is older but has a great deal of spunk, spirit and sass to brighten your life. Sophie deserves more than just being a foster; she deserves to be someone’s furever baby. Sophie needs a home that is willing to focus their love on her and assure that she has no more wants or needs during her golden years.
