Sophie Australian Shepherd & Doberman Pinscher Mix Athens, GA

Welcome Sophie! This Doberman mix beauty is around 2-years-old and had four puppies in February. Once she loses the baby weight, Sophie should weigh around 50 pounds. All of her babies have been adopted, so she’s an empty-nester who is ready to thrive in her new kid-free life!

Sophie is working on her housetraining. She knows when to go outside and hasn’t had any recent accidents, but she doesn’t spend much time loose in the house. Sophie is crate trained and will go in her crate with just a point -- no treat needed! She has learned to “sit,” and she will probably get a few more tricks up her sleeve with more training.

Sophie lives with dogs in her foster home, and they are all doing well together. Sophie is a bit shy at first but will wrestle and bounce around with her foster siblings. She is wonderful at adjusting her play style based on the situation -- she’s gentle with smaller dogs but can play rough and hold her own with the big boys.

While she hasn’t come face to face with cats, she’s seen them from afar, and while she’s interested, she doesn’t seem to mind them too much, and always loses their staring contest long before the cats do.

Sophie loves her people! She’s shy at first, but once you win her over, she looks for you and wants to be around you at all times! She LOVES getting and giving affection but doesn’t mind being on her own too much.

Right now, Sophie is used to lots of playing with other dogs, but she would probably appreciate visits to the dog park, long walks, and mental stimulation. She’s a smart dog who picks up on things quickly and seems to love being challenged to use her brain! She’s a girl always after adventure.

We typically adopt to homes within 30 minutes of Athens, GA, as we require a basic home check to ensure all dogs are placed in a safe environment. If you are further away than that and are interested in one of our pups, please still fill out an application and we can discuss your options.
