Yes, but please keep in mind that they must be taught to respect the dog’s space, belongings, and food.
• HOUSEBROKEN? NOT 100% YET. As a dog rescued off the street and transitioning from living on indoor tile/ outdoor dirt surfaces in Mexico, they'll need time and patience to adjust to a new environment, but most of our dogs adapt to a potty routine within 1-2 weeks with consistent training.

🐾 Meet SOPHIA 🐾

Sophia was found abandoned on the streets of Chapala, completely alone. No mother, no siblings, no other dogs—just a tiny puppy by herself, covered in fleas and filth. Most street puppies are found with their families, but Sophia? She was on her own. The best guess is that someone bought or received her as a gift, then dumped her when they didn't want her anymore.

For a puppy that young to be separated from her family and left to fend for herself—that does something to you. It shapes how you see the world, how you trust, how you connect.

Now at six months old, Sophia is still figuring out who she is. She's got quirks, that's for sure. She's independent and a bit aloof—doesn't seek out affection the way many dogs do. Try to pick her up for a cuddle and she'll squirm to get down, more interested in doing her own thing than being held. She's not mean about it, just... not that into it right now.

But here's the thing: Sophia is still so young. Her personality isn't set in stone. In the right home with patient, loving people who give her space to be herself while gently showing her that affection is safe, she might blossom into something completely different. Or she might always be a little independent. Either way, she deserves a family that embraces her as she is.

What Sophia absolutely loves is playing with other dogs. She comes alive around them—chasing, wrestling, romping until everyone's tired. It's like she's making up for lost time, filling that absence from being separated from her own family so early. She'll play fetch, chew on bones, nap in a pile of toys like she's claimed her territory. All the typical puppy stuff.

She's also quite vocal. Sophia has this high-pitched bark that she uses liberally—when she's excited, when she sees something interesting, when horses walk by. It's... distinctive. The kind of bark that whoever adopts her will either find endearing or will need some patience with. She's got her quirks for sure.

But she's also just a puppy. She has her zoomies and her calm moments. She loves car rides, pressing her nose against the window watching the world go by. She eats enthusiastically (maybe a little desperately, like she still remembers being hungry). She's learning what it means to be a dog in a home instead of a puppy alone on the streets.

What Sophia needs is someone who can be patient with her independent streak, who won't force affection but will offer it consistently until maybe she decides she wants it too (we think she will). She needs structure and stimulation, training and socialization. She would thrive in a home with other dogs to play with, because that's where she shines.

She's only six months old. She's barely started her life, but she's been through more than any puppy should have. She's also resilient, playful, and full of potential. The question isn't who Sophia is right now—it's who she could become with the right family.

Are you ready to be the family that gives Sophia the chance to discover who she really is—that accepts her quirks, celebrates her independence, and shows her that being abandoned once doesn't mean she's not worth keeping forever?

*************************

📝 Ready to apply?
