Sonya Purnell Lewis Chattanooga, TN 4822's Story

Sonya is not a morning person but gave her best morning smile. She has been doing well with housebreaking. Only 2 accidents inside, since Jan 1st. She is slowly venturing to other rooms, plays with the other 2 Bostons (only on her terms though) and started learning to bark. She LOVES cheese and loves to sleep. #sonyaprogress Sonya was a breeder dog that we feel didn't have much contact with humans or other dogs. She was afraid to be petted and wanted to stay in her bed most of the time.

She has made a lot of progress since being in a foster home the last 4 weeks. She has learned that petting and massages feel good. She is interacting more with other dogs and humans.

Sonya is sleeping in the bed with her foster mom and sibling dogs, but she has to be picked up and put on the bed and lifted back off.

She has not shown any aggression and is good with cats.

Still working on the housetraining and working on going outside, she is afraid to be outside.

Her new home would be with someone to show her love and patience. She is an extremely sweet girl. Good in a home with or without dogs. It scares her when your voice is raised even though it is not directed at her and is also scared of storms.

Sonya has just now started going into the kitchen to eat out of the bowls instead of the food being brought to her. She won't take a treat from your hand but will eat it if you lay it down.

For weeks she has stayed mostly in her bed but recently she has chosen to stay in an open crate.

Sonya has made so much progress, and her new family will need to help her continue the progress.

Please email her foster mom, Jan at jan1197523@aol.com if you have any more questions about this sweet little girl.

Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee's Adoption Policy
For the Application and much more information, go to The Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee website, Boston Terrier Rescue of East TN at bostonterriertn.org and use the online application. We require both an adoption application & a contract. We check Vet references, interview families and do home visits. We ask for a nominal adoption donation to help us defray the medical expenses of the next homeless dog. It generally costs us more than we take in in fees per dog to completely vet a dog. Many come to us old and frail, often sick, making donations more critical. We are not subsidized by the government or any foundation, but rather by only a few very good people. We're delighted to get donations. Our adoption application is available on-line and we will generally respond within 24-48 hours to your application and answer any initial questions. Anyone wishing to adopt should complete the online application on bostonterriertn.org If you don't get an answer to an inquiry it's probably because your question was already answered in the bio -- and if the dog is still posted on our website, that means he/she is still available.
