Sonny's Story

Meet Sonny!

Sonny didn’t get the happiest start in life and is still learning that humans can be kind. He may be timid at first, but his heart opens up when you bring out his favorite treat—string cheese! Sonny gains confidence from other dogs and would thrive in a forever home with a happy, stable canine companion.

This 60 lb, Rough Collie / German Shepherd mix is fast, playful, and loves a good game of fetch—whether it’s with a ball, a stuffy, or anything he can proudly carry.

Once he warms up, Sonny is deeply affectionate and especially loves watching other dogs receive gentle affection, which helps him trust more each day.

Sonny is looking for a patient, loving home with people who understand that building trust takes time. He does best with dog-savvy older kids (10+), every dog he’s met so far, and even lives with a cat (though he’s a little nervous around them). Loud environments aren’t his favorite, but he feels safe with consistency, kindness, and routine.

Sonny MUST go to a home with another dog-friendly dog. He gets his confidence in new spaces and with new people from other pups, taking time to warm up to new people until he is deeply bonded.

Brave at heart, Sonny is blossoming into the dog he was always meant to be. With the right home, his gentle, loyal nature will shine brighter every day.

You may visit https://roxysranchhaven.org/for-adoption/ to do this as well. If you are unsure which animal is the best fit for you, but would like to adopt, please continue with Step 2. 2. Complete the Adoption Application Fill out the form completely, including all details that will help us ensure a good match between you and the animal. 3. Phone Screening Once your application is submitted, a member of our team will contact you for a phone screening to go over your information and confirm if the pet is a good fit. 4. Schedule a Farm Visit If approved, we’ll arrange a time for you to visit Roxy’s Ranch Haven to meet the animal in person. This will be confirmed by email or during your call. 5. Adoption Fee & Paperwork After your visit, you’ll receive an email with instructions for submitting the $350 adoption fee (which supports the farm) along with the post-adoption form and official paperwork, including shelter notes and medical records. 6. Meet your future pet During your visit, you’ll spend time with the pet you’re interested in and get to know them better. 7. Submit Final Paperwork Once all required forms and paperwork are returned, your adoption is nearly complete! 8.
