Sonny's Story

This is Sonny!

He is a male cattle dog/pit bull terrier mix, 50-60 pounds, and 1.5 years old.

Sonny and two of his friends were found in Glendale, cruising the canal the day after Thanksgiving (2022). Lured to safety with chicken sausage treats by two good Samaritans (who also doubled as animal advocates), the three strays were immediately turned over to Maricopa County Animal Care And Control where veterinary work and an owner search could be started. Although ultimately no owner came forward, their finders did come back to rescue them for a second time once they were placed up for adoption. Unfortunately, one dog had already been adopted by the time they arrived (we can only hope it was to a responsible animal lover). Concerned the remaining two dogs could end up in the wrong hands, their rescuers actually adopted them in the hopes of getting help from a reputable rescue to find them wonderful homes… and that’s where we came in!

Sonny’s rescuers-turned-foster parents describe this big handsome boy as loving, loyal, and smart! In their care, he has picked up several commands, including “sit,” “touch,” “eyes,” and “stay,” rather quickly! Even though he is still anxious when first entering cars, he does settle down once on the move. He is always excited to go outside and loves his exercise just as much as needs it! When it’s time to settle down, Sonny becomes quite the cuddle bug, which truly makes him the best of both worlds (active & couch potato)! During interactions with other dogs, he responds fairly well but can be overzealous at times. A playful, even-tempered female dog would be a great match for Sonny.

He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and fecal tested.

His adoption fee is $400.
