Sol's Story

Personality:
Sol is a very sweet girl who loves attention and getting lots of pets; she is laid back but still fun! This girl is also very smart and picks up on things quickly!

Education:
Sol is mostly potty-trained but has a bit of incontinence. Using waterproof blankets on furniture or carpets and keeping her clean helps a lot. She walks well on the leash although at times can be a little reactive to other dogs and works on getting better!

Favorite Activities:
Sol loves attention and getting lots of pets, going for walks and soaking up the sun and always enjoys getting treats! She also loves car rides, so getting to the beach or parks is not going to be a problem!

Looking For:
This beautiful girl will do best in a calm, mellow home where she can go on a couple of short or medium-length walks each day with her humans and maybe even visit a lake or beach because she loves being near water!

Special Needs:
Sol needs regular ear cleanings and monitoring to help prevent infections and takes baths every three or four weeks to keep her skin healthy.

Social Media:
Instagram @maybe_its_carlos

Bio:
Hi there! My name is Sol, and I'm a spayed Lab mix. I've been through quite a journey-from the streets of Mexico to proudly beating TVT-and now I'm ready to find my furever home!

I'm a big-hearted sweetheart who loves attention. Most of the time, I'm pretty chill and happy to snooze the day away, but I do enjoy a couple of short or medium-length walks each day. I've got a laid-back personality with just the right dash of goofiness to keep things fun. Some of my favorite pastimes include soaking up the sun, going for strolls, getting lots of pets, and (of course) enjoying yummy treats! I'm also a great car companion-I usually just curl up and nap the whole ride.

I absolutely adore people and get along well with other dogs, too! I do have a high prey drive though, so I'll bark at bunnies, and I like to chase cats. I'm a smart cookie and pick up on things quickly. I'll even bark sometimes to let you know what I need.

I'm mostly potty-trained, but I do have a bit of incontinence. Using waterproof blankets on furniture or carpets and keeping me clean will help a lot. I walk nicely on a leash, although I can be a little reactive when I see other dogs. I also have a bit of separation anxiety, but it's pretty mild.

On the medical side, I'll need regular ear cleanings and monitoring to help prevent infections, and I take baths every three or four weeks to keep my skin healthy. I've got some bone degeneration and stiff hips, so I drag my feet just a tiniest bit-but don't worry, I can still walk just fine! And if I ever have a head tremor, a quick treat settles it right away.

I'd do best in a calm, mellow home where we can go on walks together and maybe even visit a lake or beach - I love being near water! I haven't spent much time around kids yet, but I think I'd be great with older ones. Dog siblings are a bonus, but I'm also totally fine being your one-and-only. I'd love it if someone was home most of the day since I'm such a social girl, but I can handle some alone time too (perfect for a good nap!). Because of my joints, a home without stairs would be ideal.

My adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please apply!

The Animal Pad's Adoption Policy
We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
