Socks's Story

Socks is a 17 month old girl who was surrendered to the shelter because there was no place for her to run and play. According to her former family, she is an Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix. She is very submissive when you first meet her and rolls onto her back when you approach her. She is so playful and loves squeaky toys. Socks is already spayed and microchipped. She would love a fenced yard where she could run and run! This girl is so much fun! She is a little too active for very young children, but she would be an awesome family member. She LOVES to go outside and play in the doggy playgroup but she really doesn't like sharing her home with another dog, sadly. The Humane Society of Clinton County, Indiana's Adoption Policy
We require a "foster to adopt" program for all adopters, whether it be that the pet that you are interested in still has some medical work up to be done or whether we just want to give the pet time to adjust. An application is required to be filled out at the time of adoption. No appointment required to visit the animals during open hours. Upon finalizing adoption, each pet is current on vaccinations, altered, microchipped, FeLV/FIV test and/or heartworm tested. All animals over 7 years of age will have bloodwork performed at the vet. All known medical issues will be taken care of at the vet prior to finalizing adoption (dental cleanings, hernia repairs, mass removals, etc.).
