Socks's Story
Socks is a beautiful, fully grown 40-pound brindle mix, estimated to be just over 2 years old. She and a few of her siblings were rescued from the euthanasia list at Animal Care Services in early 2023. Since then, she has blossomed into a loyal, intelligent companion with sweet, soulful eyes full of kindness and curiosity that shine amber in the right light, beautifully complementing her brindle coat.

While she would do well in a home as an only dog, Socks enjoys the company of other dogs and may benefit from a confident companion or companions to help her build trust. She’s a quiet observer who appreciates her space and would value the opportunity to take things slowly while getting to know people on her terms.

Socks enjoys sunning herself and relaxing on the couch, but her instincts occasionally take over—she will hunt squirrels and birds in the backyard. Though she has shown no interest in the parakeets that currently reside with her, she has not undergone formal testing with cats.

She’s perfectly content spending time in her crate to sleep or whenever needed—and will even tuck herself in at night, leaving her foster to discover she’s already called it a day.

Socks isn’t the kind of dog who will greet a stranger with instant kisses, but with patience and understanding, she’ll be your most loyal companion and you won't regret giving her the chance. We kindly ask potential adopters to consider the possibility of at least two meet and greets to give her the time she needs to truly get comfortable and show her personality.
