Snoopy's Story
I’m Snoopy. I am a 3-year-old Sheepdog who has recently been given a second chance at life. To say my past was difficult is an understatement—I spent many years neglected, leaving me severely emaciated and with fur so painfully matted to my skin I had to be completely shaved down to start over.

You might think that after all I’ve been through untrusting. Nope! My foster family calls me a "love bug" and a "total sweetheart." I have decided that people are amazing, and I am determined to soak up every second of love and attention I can get. I love receiving belly rubs, and following my favorite humans around the house. I am truly a gentle soul with a heart full of love. I am making up for lost time and need a home where I will be a central part of the family. I like to chew bones and to play and can be quite silly at times.

I am currently focusing on gaining weight and getting my coat back to its former glory. I love mealtime and I’m learning that food is plentiful now. Even though I have a short "puppy cut", my beautiful, fluffy, Sheepdog spirit shines through! As my beautiful coat grows back, I will need regular brushing to ensure I never feel the pain of matting again. I have lived with other dogs in the past successfully, but would also do fine as a single dog. I seem to love kids and have adored getting to know the kids in the foster home ages 10+.

During his intake exam, Snoopy tested Heartworm Positive. While this sounds daunting, the great news is that he has already begun his treatment! He is a brave boy and is handling everything like a champ.

To ensure Snoopy gets exactly what he needs, the rescue will cover the cost of his remaining heartworm treatment at one of our approved partner veterinarians.

Snoopy is looking for a family that understands his recovery—both physical and medical—is still in progress. It won't take long!

His adoption fee is $400.

If you are interested in adopting there is an application below: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PDAR/Dog

Most of our dogs are rescued from high-intake shelters in Texas or straight off the streets in South Texas where there are packs of stray dogs running loose. Your fee covers the significant costs of bringing them to safety. Your adoption fee covers: spay/neuter (if old enough), transport fees getting the dogs from Texas to our fosters homes here (that ALONE is $200-$230 per dog), core vaccines, heartworm test (If old enough), deworming, and microchip.

We partner with VCA Animal Hospitals. With every adoption comes a complimentary First Exam at any participating VCA location within the first 14 days of adoption. Follow-up Care Coverage: VCA provides limited health guarantee coverage (up to $250) for specific minor illnesses (like kennel cough or ear infections) diagnosed during that initial 14-day window.

We do not guarantee the breed of any of our dogs or how big they will be when they are fully grown. The breed listed is typically a guess based off of appearance or personality traits. We cannot guarantee that any dog is not mixed with pit. This is a standard part of adopting a dog from rescue.

We are a non-profit rescue. Any access revenue made is used to care for animals with additional medical expenditures that would otherwise result in adoptable dogs having to be left behind and euthanized.
