S'more's Story

Hi! My name is S’more
My closest friends call me Paco.

I was born on May 30, 2025, and I’m a mixed-breed mystery! My mom thinks I might be a Jack Russell Terrier, Spaniel, and Dalmatian mix… but really, who knows? I’m expected to grow to about 40–45 lbs.

I’m still a typical puppy—learning something new every day! I am doing great, but I sometimes need gentle reminders from my mom and dad as I grow and figure things out.

I sleep all night in my crate without waking and let my humans know when I need to go potty in the morning. I also rest nicely in my crate while mom and dad are at work. I’m fully potty-trained and will signal when I need to go outside.

So far, I know sit, come, my name, no, down/off, and gentle. I love playing fetch with my toys and having full-on wrestling matches with my foster brother. Outside is one of my favorite places. I love exploring new smells, chasing my brother, and keeping an eye out for squirrels (I haven’t caught one yet, but I’m hopeful).

I’m learning how to play independently too. When my brother is tired or my humans are busy, I’m happy chewing on my bone for a few hours.

I’m a great eater! Maybe a little too enthusiastic, I always race with my foster brother on who can finish first. I always win, but I take treats very politely.

After my action-packed days, I’m usually pretty tired at night. I love snuggling with my mom, and when I’m really tired, I snore pretty loudly. I enjoy winding down by watching TV before heading to bed in my crate. And if my mom and dad fall asleep on the couch… sometimes I get to stay out all night.

Even though my humans say I’m doing great, I’ll still need help learning new skills and reinforcing the ones I already know. I’m especially working on walking nicely on a leash—I try my best, but all the new smells and dogs can be very exciting and a little overwhelming.

I know I’m already pretty great, but I can’t wait to keep learning and to spend forever playing, exploring, and snuggling with you.

Our standard adoption fee is $465. We offer a $15 discount for adopters who pay by cash or check, making the adoption fee $450.

The adoption fee includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal test, deworming, current on flea and tick preventative, and microchip.

To ensure the best match for both our dogs and adopters, we require a fully completed adoption application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with the entire household. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed.

Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption and does not obligate you to adopt; it simply allows us to begin the review process.

To request an application or for additional details, please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org

Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.

Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to approve or decline any adoption application based on the best interest of the dog.
