Smokey's Story

Meet handsome Smokey! He came from animal control, who took him in when his owner died. Smokey is about 14 yrs old and weighs 15 lbs. He gets along with dogs and cats wonderfully and is a friendly little guy. Once he bonds, he will follow you everywhere. Velcro dog for sure! He loves time on the couch or just wherever you are but he's not invasive. He is super chill when he needs to be but also enjoys exploring the yard or going for walks. He rides very well in the car.
Smokey is currently on Denamarin, a med that helps his kidney function. While he is not in kidney failure yet, our vet wanted him on this med to support his kidneys as he ages. He also has a growth on his chest. A needle aspirate biopsy came back inconclusive. Our vet let us know that this growth could not be surgically removed even is it was cancerous (which we don't know) because there would not be enough skin to close the incision due to it's location and size. The good news is that this growth does not affect his mobility at all or cause him any discomfort.
Smokey came to us not housetrained. We keep a male diaper (a belly band) on him in the house so that if he does choose to mark, it's all caught inside the pad in the diaper and easy to change out and keep up with.
Smokey has been fully vetted and his adoption fee has been sponsored.
If you would like to consider welcoming Smokey into your family, please fill out an adoption application here: https://fivefreedomsfarm.org/adopt/application/
We always respond within 24 hours. Thank you!
