Smokey's Story

MEET SMOKEY — SAVED WITH ONLY MINUTES TO SPARE

Smokey’s life began on the unforgiving streets of Harris County, Texas, where every day was a fight just to stay alive. When Animal Control finally picked him up, he must have believed—just for a moment—that his luck had finally changed. He didn’t know that his rescue from the streets would lead him straight into a crowded, high‑kill shelter where his time was slipping away faster than anyone realized.
When we learned about Smokey, he had only minutes left. Minutes. This sweet, gentle boy was about to lose the only chance he’d ever had at the life he deserved. And thank goodness we stepped in, because the world would have lost an incredible soul.
It was clear from the moment we met him that Smokey had spent most of his life outside. No real shelter. No protection. No one to care enough to prevent the mosquito bites that led to his heartworm diagnosis. But heartworms are treatable—and the moment he was safe with us, we began his treatment right away.
Despite everything he has been through, Smokey’s spirit is gentle and full of love. At around four years old, he has so much life left to live and so much affection left to give. His foster family can’t say enough wonderful things about him—he’s polite, calm, and so well-behaved indoors. Not a single accident. Not a single complaint. Just gratitude and sweetness in every wag of his tail.
And to make him even more perfect—Smokey loves other dogs, too.
From the streets, to the shelter, to the soft bed in his foster home, Smokey’s journey is proof that some souls continue to shine, no matter how dark their past has been. Now all he needs is a forever family to show him that the best part of his story is still ahead.

Can you give Smokey the furever home he so deserves.

http://hoardinhuskies.net/dog-adoption/
