Stilll in need of urgent rescue to a rescue who can commit to maintaining his meds, and managing flares if they occur. He is not on a special diet, thus his allergies are suspected to be environmental/flea mediated. 07/23/26 12:01 Medical update: Smoke is being managed on Zenrelia, a once daily anti-inflammatory for allergic skin disease, and he still has some mild redness at his paws, front of his chest, but is much better-off and more comfortable than when he came into shelter. Seeking urgent rescue who can continue his medication, and commit to any other care he may need long term for his allergic skin disease, such as medicated baths or mousses, special diets, medications for skin flares or adjustements to his maintenance medications overtime. I was a perfect companion, nothing bothered me, I just<br/> loved being out of the kennel and even took time to relax in the<br/> shade with my new pal! <br/>What to know about this dog: <br/>• No reactivity <br/>• Lovely walker <br/>• Great smooshy kisser! <br/>• Very treat motivated<br/> Three words to describe me: Affectionate, Curious, Attentive 06/24/26 11:13 **URGENT RESCUE NEEDED** – SEVERE ALLERGIC SKIN DISEASE** Smoke A1409217 This incredibly sweet ~5-year-old male intact pit bull is looking for a rescue partner to pull him to manage his significant but treatable medical needs. He is suffering from severe allergic dermatitis, likely related to fleas, food allergies, environmental allergies, or a combination of factors. As a result, he currently has diffuse yeast and bacterial skin infections, severe ear infections, and conjunctivitis. His ears are so uncomfortable his constant head shaking has led to bleeding ear tips. Dogs with advanced allergic skin disease often struggle in the shelter environment. They do best in a home or foster setting where they can receive consistent medical care, including routine medicated baths, topical mousse treatments, and frequent ear flushing. A stable environment also allows for close monitoring of his response to treatment and helps reduce exposure to potential triggers. He would benefit from a controlled therapeutic diet trial under veterinary supervision to help identify possible food allergies. Long-term management may include medications such as Zenrelia, Atopica, or other anti-inflammatory therapies to control itching and inflammation. Consultation with a veterinary dermatologist, allergy testing, and allergy-specific immunotherapy may also significantly improve his quality of life. Smoke has mild dental disease, and needs a dental cleaning and evaluation under anesthesia. Smoke also has some entropion (eyelids rolled in) and it is not clear if this is secondary to dermatitis around the eyelids or a primary issue. If primary, it may need surgical correction down the road. Despite everything he is experiencing, this boy remains exceptionally kind and cooperative. He has shown no medical reactivity during handling or treatment, knows sit, and has maintained a low Fear, Anxiety, and Stress (FAS) score in the kennel since intake. His sweet temperament shines through even while dealing with severe discomfort. He deserves the chance to heal in a supportive environment where his allergies can be properly managed. With appropriate medical care and ongoing treatment, he has the potential to become a comfortable, happy companion. Please consider opening your home or rescue program to give this deserving dog the opportunity he needs.
